This is the latest salvo in the war against drugs in Mexico. From coast to coast, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided businesses, homes and streets looking for gang members who may be related to the Mexican drug cartels.

U.S. director of CIE, said: "The results were good news for public safety and the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, we arrested 678 gang members and associates from 133 gangs .. "

Five of those arrests were made in Somerton, Arizona, just miles from the border. Many of those caught had violent criminal histories.

Drug Enforcement Administration said that the attempt to direct response to the recent killing of ICE Special Agent Jaime Zapata, who was brutally struck members of the Zetas drug gang.
